Far East Flaneur is an art + nature trail experience that takes us from the Tav @ Lake Tyers Beach to Sailors Grave @ Cape Conran. Dawdling 100km at our leisure. With artists + nature lovers.
Monday 26 October – Saturday 1 November, 2026. Far East Gippsland.

(with a little bit of wriggle room for those who need to arrive a bit early or stay a bit longer - by arrangement + booking with local accommodation providers).

ART + NATURE WALK / PADDLE / CYCLE / REST
A 5-night, far-east adventure for a dozen or so travelling nature lovers / wanderers / FLANEURS (you!).

Supported by our best local tour operators. Travelling with the (fab) FLOAT team of artists, bird watchers, nature journallers and storytellers.

The folk who love to share this region and its precious story of forests and coasts and everything in-between.

Culminating at East Gippsland’s most beautiful far east wild nature destination - Cape Conran - with a famous little craft beer en route at Sailor’s Grave Brewing @ Dunetown. Via lakes, gorges, forests, rivers, campsites and cosy cabins and tons of stories shared in wide open spaces.

* Some might want to arrive at Lakes Entrance the day before we start our journey, on Sunday 25 October ,to meet the FLOAT crew at Iceworks Studio for coffee + cake, an exhibition by Josephine Jakobi and Welcome by Uncle Lenny. Totally optional but maybe a nice way to settle in for the journey?
(You need to organise your own Lakes Entrance accommodation, but we can help!)

We’ll walk, dawdle, draw, map, listen, laugh, curse, kayak, cycle and walk some more (with back-up lifts whenever we wear out.)

MAKING A FAR EAST FLANEUR DOCUMENTARY

And as the SECOND of many future ventures our plan is to capture all of this on paper, film, audio, maps, notes to create the best Far East story possible. We’d love you to be a part of it. Help us create the change for regenerative tourism. Be a gentle and generous traveller.

THE ART OF THE FLANEUR

The experience is grounded in the CREATIVE ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP that FLOAT is built on. All participants will be equipped with their own NATURE JOTTING satchel that will help them look, listen, snap, and scribble their en-route notes and pix from which we will assemble and install a pop-up gallery + zine created by our flaneurs.

Our stories will eventually save Far East Gippsland for everyone, and engage a new generation in an alternative future for our forests and our communities.
