DAY 1. SUNDAY 15 MARCH
Slipway Sheds / Lakes Entrance to Lake Tyers Beach. 8km
9am start
Today we meet at the Slipway Sheds (470 Esplanade Lakes Entrance) for a coffee + fruit + cake + welcome from the crew.
And some introductions if you’re new to the area.
Flaneurs will be a mix of locals, visitors and Feral MBAs. Led by our local walkers and flaneur experts - Up the Creek (who are mentoring FLOAT as an artist-led social enterprise.)
We start at the Slipway - where there’s great Gippsland Jersey coffee on hand.
We head east at 9ish, and head for the coast - then on to the Lake Tyers Beach (Waterwheel) Tavern, 8km away.
It’s a fairly easy stroll for those who want to walk with locals, enjoy the coast, stretch their legs.
It’s a beautiful start to the journey.
The walk is mostly via Lake Bunga, past Red Bluff and along the Bass Strait beach .. stopping to share a bit of fruity morning tea along the way. Arrive at Lake Tyers Beach Tav in time for some shared pizza lunch and an afternoon of chatting.
The Tav can provide a courtesy lift home to 3909 residents – or you should plan to car pool yourself if needed.
We can cook a simple dinner at the Camp Park, or buy-your-own at the Tav.
FULL-ON FAR EAST FLANEURS (FOFEFs)
For those who are continuing on with us for the next week to experience the rest of the journey – we will cross the footpath to Lake Tyers Beach Camp + Caravan Park, to camp in the tents we can supply (or you BYO.) These are simple 1-person tents with sleeping bag provided. We have some cabins available if you are happy to pay that price (but we can also hang out at the Tav until it’s late enough to crawl into your tent.)
Flaneurs are encouraged to bring their own tents + sleeping bags that can be carried in our mini bus.
All should carry a small back pack / water bottle

Our Eco Tourism mentor and tireless birdlife mentor Skipper Pete can take you in his water taxi to visit FLOAT where our current Artist in Residence Bridget Hillebrand will welcome you on board to show you the residency vessel and tell you about her work.
"Working from a deep interest in the ecological conditions of waterways, Bridget will discuss how hydrophone and soundscape recordings gathered from Lake Tyers and local waterways informed the conceptual and material direction of a new series of works on paper."
OPTION 2. START WALKING TO LAKE TYERS HOUSE
Start dawdling with (a local guide) to Lake Tyers House along the lake edge.
We can travel in small walking groups according to which option you choose first.
LAKE TYERS HOUSE
Arrive at Lake Tyers House any time .. and settle in for the day /dinner/sleep-over.
‘Lake Tyers House was built in 1886 as a guest house, attracting nature lovers from far and wide. The owners invite us to share the isolated beauty of this special place.’ Sue Goding.
The afternoon’s art + conversation is led by Green Studio (Callan + Lindsay). Local Architects / designers / woodworkers. A conversation among us all about making ephemeral homes in wild locations.

We are also chuffed to have Alice Pepper (local Aboriginal artist and fab FLOAT mentor) joining us on our whole Far East Flaneur.
Friend of the Corringle Creators and FLOAT, Alice joined the Flaneur initially to enjoy the journey - but as the conversation has evolved - to also to work with us, to inspire the collaboration we all know the world needs right now.
FROM 10am we’ll spend a long morning + lunch, weaving, walking and talking on the Corringle shore.
When the time and tide is right we team up with Paul Nicholl @ Gippsland Recreation Outdoors - GRO to paddle across the Snowy River together. Not a looong nor hard paddle - but an iconic Far East experience with the local experts.
3PM Arrive in Marlo - have a coffee at the Local Metung or the Marlo Bait + Tackle Cafe - pick up supplies then head to West Cape Cabins for some gentle (walking art) R+R.
DAY 6. FRIDAY 20 MARCH
Flop at West Cape. Walk the Yeerung. Fishlife x FLanear
Lots to do all day. (or FLOP if we want)
SONIC REFLECTIONS (with Nele Jungenkrüger & Sasha Kruse)
What sound does a memory of a journey carry?
Near the end of the Far East Flaneur experience, this activity offers a moment to pause and reflect on the paths walked, moments noticed and feelings that surfaced along the way.
Through a short writing exercise participants gather small fragments of their experiences and translate them into simple sounds using voice, breath, body or found objects. Written reflections may remain private, and anything shared may optionally be recorded.
These sonic gestures enter a shared pool of audio from which a soundscape will be improvised.
While others relax (and others set the scene and think about food and chat or walk the Yeerung) we are thrilled to have our most recent FLOAT AIR Iona Julian-Walters visiting with their team of fellow artists - Scarlet + Richard - to share a workshop they have hatched together: Fishlife x FLanear.
’Delivered in a relaxed space on the West Cape property. It’s a workshop of paper or cloth cyanotypes with a combination of found natural materials (if people want to collect during their walks that would be amazing) and drawing with a focus on "watery place.’ It'll be a nice and welcoming and curious space, not driven by stress or outcome!
We’ll decide what to do - where and when - over the following days - as we let nature take its course :-)
FERAL MBAs arrive at West Cape Cabins
Today is also the day that our 2026 Feral MBAs arrive back in Far East Gippsland for their final weekend of the FMBA, and to deliver their own art/biz presentations. (A closed workshop for Ferals only).
(But there’s plenty of room out here for non-Feral guests to get lost / go walking / sleeping)
On Friday night - we all chip in and cook and prep and clean up together. So tonight - we mingle and relax.
DAY 7. SATURDAY 21 MARCH
FROTH PARTY @ DUNETOWN
SAILOR’S GRAVE BREWING @ DUNETOWN
Today is a busy day for Feral MBA participants gathered at West Cape Cabins - they’ll be brainstorming in the nicest space at West Cape - listening and delivering their art / biz plan ideas.
They’ll be there all day - celebrating their ideas and the amazing FMBA camaraderie.
The rest of us can do as we please.
Most importantly we have an invitation from the SNOWY RIVER LEADERSHIP CAMPUS to come for lunch - just down the road to meet their students and staff and discover the most amazing curriculum you’ll ever want to hear about. Maybe we can walk there?
LATE AFTERNOON / EVENING
We’ll ALL head to Sailor’s Grave Brewing, DUNETOWN, just down the road - for dinner at 5ish.
You need to BOOK your dinner so they know YOU are coming. BOOK HERE FOR DUNETOWN IT’S IMPORTANT THAT THEY KNOW NUMBERS
At 6ish we start our FROTH (storytelling) session. It’s like the MOTH. but with added beer - in the country.
If you love The Moth, and love to tell an authentic story yourself, you will love this. Maybe start thinking about what it might be. We’d love to find a bunch of quirky and diverse storytellers - we have some beauties already planning to come.
DAY 8. SUNDAY 22 MARCH.
FAREWELL
Thanks to everyone who has shown so much interest and love and support for this fairly ambitious art + nature journey. Led by community and artists and nature lovers.
Yes - it’s an experiment. An arts pilot. A reccy. But we seriously hope it will become a well-worn path among creative and regenerative folk who like to walk, and find good company and good nature along the way. This trip is full of makers, designers, listeners, and casual observers.
The crew is AMAZING - you will love discovering everyone who has signed up for this adventure.
But definitely an experiment. We hope we’ve got it right. We will be taking loads of photos + audio gatherings. And plan to share them as soon as we’re home. We hope you’ll all help make this Far East Gippsland destination a tiny bit famous.
Oh and all of our 2026 Feral MBA folk will be here too!
